Rio Grande Farm Park Laguna
The laguna makes up 9 of the Farm Park’s 38-acre property. In alignment with our stated mission to promote healthy living, connect children and families to nature, and preserve Alamosa’s public trail system & open spaces, the Rio Grande Farm Park laguna area (located next to the farm park outside the west back gate) is a spot where folks are encouraged to play, kayak, fish, and enjoy the beautiful views of the Rio Grande River.
The laguna is also an important part of the irrigation system for our farmers; its water is used to run our drip irrigation program.
“Fishing is Fun” Grant
Stay tuned for updates in 2026 about the status of a Colorado Parks and Wildlife grant that the Rio Grande Farm Park is in the process of applying for. The proposed projects will improve fishing access in two locations, installing a fishing pier, and creating a kayak/SUP/ canoe put in.
