Nature Play Area & Children’s Garden
Our Nature Play Area was built in 2019 by Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds, thanks to funding from Colorado Health Foundation. It features a zipline, a chalkboard, a sandbox, a slide, a small climbing structure, as well as plenty of space to run around. In the future, the Farm Park hopes to expand our play area to include more fun features, further facilitating play and connection for people of all ages.
Our Children’s Garden was built in 2025 by a group of volunteers. Funding for the initial building of the children’s garden came from a grant provided by Kids Gardening. The garden has a raised bed for pollinator plants, one for native plants, and an herb bed.
In the spring of 2026, the Farm Park received a $10,000 grant from Colorado Garden Foundation for the purpose of building an outdoor classroom and further developing our learning garden for youth in the San Luis Valley.
Thanks to these funds, the Farm Park will need plenty of volunteers to help with the classroom’s construction – including building a pergola, building up the soil and planting in our pollinator and native plant gardens, creating a no-turn compost display, and landscaping.
