Farm to School Program
Program Update as of Winter 2025
Our Education Program Coordinator is currently in the process of writing farm-to-school curriculum specific to the Rio Grande Farm Park, thanks to funding from the USDA through the Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grant Program. Once completed, the curriculum will be integrated into our existing education program initiatives. According to the USDA website, the grant program is “designed to increase the availability of local foods in schools and help connect students to the sources of their food through education, taste tests, school gardens, field trips, and local food sourcing for school meals”. These purposes align with the Farm Park’s stated mission to create opportunities for local youth to learn about agriculture, connect with local food sources, and enjoy the outdoors.
