RGFP Farmers Switched from Flood Irrigation to Drip Line Irrigation

This month, Rio Grande Farm Park farmers switched from flood irrigation to drip line irrigation. Water for the drip irrigation system is sourced from our Laguna. This year, the Laguna is storing 7 acre feet of water from the Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife in addition to the 2 acre feet that was purchased a few years ago for the park’s perpetual agricultural usage. Drip irrigation is a highly effective and efficient way to water for the remainder of the growing season. The Farm Park hopes to continue acting as trustworthy stewards of our precious water resources as the valley experiences historic drought conditions.
